NO 'Counter' belt required either! The chance that anyone would need those functions from the deck is "slim to none". Tape speed tested and resulted in 9 9. Plays and records Exceptionally well and we really put them through the paces, testing both with well mixed CD material and CD test tones looking for correct head Azimuth, tape speed accuracy and making test recordings.

Again, check the 'test results' listed above. We've had other decks that can do one of those two options, but never one that can do BOTH!!! I think it is now my favorite model of Reel to Reel deck at least among the many dozens I've had over the past 3 decades.

Probably the best sounding deck I've had the pleasure to audition due to the built in oscillator, fine bias and variable EQ alone. Again, as mentioned earlier, cosmetically it's in great condition. This was considered a 'standard' among studio engineers. A real 'Workhorse' throughout much of the 's into the '90's.

This one has never been 'rack mounted' so no 'rack-rash' on the mounting ears. As touched on above, the heads are in beautiful condition, also with none of the common 'green corrosion'. The reel tables do have a tolerable amount of the typical corrosion that is often seen on Pioneer RT's , but doesn't have any on the head cover which they often do.

Prior to arriving to us, t he sheet metal case was re-sprayed in satin black and is in good condition. There is an area on the back panel where someone had engraved id info, no obliterated with vinyl adhesive covering it. These are great machines. I have had this one myself for years. It's a blast to put on a BIG Even though it was designed for the consumer market, many were and are in use in schools, universities, libraries, clubs, etc.

I worked at a Sheraton Inn in the late 70's and early 80's, and we had two in the DJ booth, that supplied foreground music from about 11AM till the DJ showed up at about 9PM, 7 days a week! Also includes a 'non-Pioneer', Metal Scotch brand with some surface wear , Now the entire deck is quite as it should be.

We had full voltage to the record amplifier and was able to adjust record amp to intended levels. They're the best we've ever had on a deck and look NEW! Meaning a 'factory' 1kHz tape plays back at Hz.

Cosmetically there's a few striations in the upper, left corner of the face, the lower, left corner and circular 'witness marks' from metal reels being 'stopped by hand' at some point in it's life.

There's also a small ding in the lower, left corner of the face see photos above of details. Good for reel sizes up to 7" in diameter. Great for burning your tapes to CD or Hard Drive or for making new tapes.

Also repaired shorted diode on 'Servo' cb. Looks essentially NEW just a couple little 'tics' on the head cover and sounds great too! As touched on above, the heads are in beautiful condition. Spindle tridents are in great condition with strong springs, and no cracks, splits or broken spines. Wood grain, vinyl wrapped case in great condition as well.

Also includes our normal accessory kit that includes a 'Play - Back Demo' made on the deck, a 7" plastic take-up reel, and a couple of other assorted 7" tapes to play with. The 'Supply' spindle has a bit of run-out, but nothing that affects performance. The face has crescent reel flange marks those are actually fairly common on many machines. The pinch roller is missing it's hub cap. There some scratches under the capstan.

The head cover has numerous scratches and some 'yellow' staining wouldn't come off. There's some light corrosion under the meters on the aluminum bezels. The 'supply' reel spindle has the outermost, end of it's tip chipped off still functionally fine. Three heads, 7-inch reels, feather-touch buttons and easy cueing. Phillips, 72, said the deck will round out a display of his Memphis Recording Service studio, joining an RCA control board, homemade speaker, cabinet and needle lathe - to cut acetate masters - that he's had stored in Memphis.
