San jose grill restaurant
Food good. As one expects for a steak house. Service very slow. Prices sky high. My bread plate was used. The accumulated dust was quite noticeable. Great meals. Hope their business continues to grow despite the hotel closure and the Covid constraints. The lamb was the best I have ever had. My husband had the Ribeye and it was wonderful.
It was quiet and not rushed. It is a bit pricey and you know that going in. We celebrated our anniversary and it was soooo worth it. Great place to go before a how as well. Nice business lunch, excellent food and service.
Good lunch specials, ahi tuna tacos were great. We had a wonderful time, loved the ambiance, food and our waiter Bob.
We usually have a great experience here but this last time was not ideal. The waiter got our order totally incorrect. There just seemed to be a lot of confusion and back and forth and long waits in between requests. Amazing food and amazing service! Place was very clean and everyone was very friendly!
This place is a 5 star service restaurant! The staff was super friendly and both Managers were very accommodating and stoped by to check on us several times. Felt like a king eating here! Great food and service! Great alternative to Mortons. Very nice, friendly staff and attitude. Staff very welcoming. Would go again for a special occassion. Our server was amazing, he was working the whole room by himself and was hustling.
The food was delicious, reliably fantastic, perfectly executed, generous portions. Went to The Grill for a birthday dinner celebration. We notified them ahead of time via OpenTable's Special Comments section. We arrived 15 mins early. Seated immediately. Our patio table was decorated with "Happy Birthday" confetti. Nice touch. Server Samantha and Manager Jeremy were epic! They catered to us as if we were royalty but, a fun royalty -- not Elizbeth Ordered cocktails, dozen oysters, lobster bisque, wedge salads, 8 oz.
All were prepared to order and did not disappoint. We brought in our own cake which they presented, sliced and served. They even joined our shoddy rendition of the Happy Birthday song! The Grill is located just across from Morton's. So, they are in good company. My take is that The Grill is a just a dialed-back version of Morton's.
Same food quality, but with a lighter atmosphere. I'll be going back again very soon. As a vegan it can be difficult to go to a steak house. But the Grill never fails to create something enjoyable for me.
My husband really enjoyed the lamb chops. They were doubles and cut nice and thick with plenty of flavor for him.
For me, I was in the mood for something different and they made me a burger using a meatless patty. It really hit the spot for me. I can hardly wait to go back! Food was okay. We ordered Oysters, Tartar, Salmon, grilled asparagus and key lime pie.
Tartar was average to bad. Salmon and key lime pie were good. Asparagus and Oysters really good. The service an absolute disaster. What made the difference to make us never want to come back to the place. We asked for the wine and the waiter came with 2 carafes to realise glasses were not there. Constant interruptions to grab things from the table way over our faces and across the whole table. Retiring the wine glass without even asking if we are done.
We got interrupted at least 10 times breaking the mood of the conversation. Maitre d' was able to move us to an inside table due to a loud event in the park directly across the street - grateful.
Our servers "J and J" were nice but failed to check on us to the point that I had to find another waiter - who was tending to another table - and ask him to locate our servers and ask them to check in with us. No water or other beverages for over 10 minutes.
That was honestly the only negative as the restaurant had a lovely ambience, the food was delicious, the portions were plenty, the food temperature was hot, and presentation was nice. The bread was great and the sea salted butter was a nice touch. I will be back. Another great evening at the Grill. We got the table we wanted and had great service. They accommodated the vegan person with a beautiful vegetable platter!
The steaks were wonderful and one person ordered an incredible seafood salad. Can hardly wait to go back! There are steak houses, and there are old world class that boosts you into another universe. While quiet, sleepy even, this place hasn't lost a step. Surf and turf and filet to die for, beyond competent cocktails, and an incredible wine list. But it all pales to the service. Not a cheap night, but always an incredible one. This is one of the best restaurant we have ever been to.
The waiter was very professional. We went for my husband's birthday last week, and I was a bit disappointed. We've been there lots of times before, but not for at least two or three years. I write this with some hesitation as the Pandemic has been hell on restaurants and I know how difficult is to properly staff and operate in these times We chose to eat outside, so of course I would expect the ambiance to be different.
I would still expect, however, that the tables would be set our food was served and we still had no napkin or utensils and had to ask for them. Our server was friendly and helpful, and brought my husband a complimentary dessert for his birthday. His rib eye was very good, as was my halibut. Both of us were disappointed in our first courses - his Caesar salad was mediocre and my lobster bisque which I've had there before and loved was just so-so. The Grill has always been a high-end steak house, but we did not feel that the food and service of this night justified the prices.
Terrible value and service. It was such a great time for us at the restaurant. The food is outstanding, the mushroom soup is tasty, the filet mignon is juicy and perfectly cooked, and the lamb chop is flavourful.
The service is overall good. Our main table waiter is super nice and professional. He knew that it was my husband's birthday so he decorated the table with some confetti, then at the end, he surprised us with a delicious cake and candle.
However, there was another waiter that helped to serve our table and he was kinda not happy or he was exhausted I guess.
Thus, he was lack of enthusiasm and was missing his smile at all times. Plus, when we asked for a to-go box, he cleaned all our utensils without asking if we finished or not, and at that time we were still eating like 2 times. But honestly, I think maybe he was too tired or had a bad day so I understand. The only thing I would recommend to improve is the restroom, it would be a perfect place if the restroom was cleaner with some candle smell or scent.
In short, we are so in love with the food. We will definitely come back soon in the future. Thank you! We loved everything, nice and quiet. The only thing was almost everything was delivered at the same time, would have liked better if the main meal was delivered a little more time after the soup and bread, otherwise the food was really great. This was our second visit and we will return.
Wonderful evening great service and food very clean. Outstanding service and excellent food. I highly recommend this restaurant. Food was extraordinary good, drinks were amazing, bartender Bernard did the best martinis and please us making this special drink call Carajllo, it was superb, place was extremely clean, staff was friendly, professional and attentive. Service and ambiance was great. Definitely worth making a reservation here and going again.
