There is a heavy parent committment, but it is worth it. I would recommend this school to anyone, but especially gifted and talented.
Admittance to the school is via lottery. Excellent teachers and staff. High demand so getting in is through a true lottery system. Those lucky enough to get in enjoy a low teacher to student ratio, hands on learning through field trips, etc. We have had 3 children go through Magellan.
Not one complaint. That all being said, this school is not for everyone. A major part of this schools success is from parent involvement. Like handling lunch duties daily to chaperoning field trips through out the year. You will be expected, as a parent, to be involved in the schooling of your child and asked to volunteer. I have enjoyed this part of Magellan, but realize that this is not the case for everyone. The teachers genuinely care for the students from my experience so far.
